First International Academia Partnership Platform of Amirkabir University of Technology

The first International Academia Partnership Platform of Amirkabir University of Technology was held on Saturday and Sunday October 6th and 7th, in the following five specialized workshops: biotechnology, water resources management, nanotechnology and materials, oil and gas, and Internet of things and big data.

In this program, 30 foreign guests from 14 countries from all over the world met with ۴۰ faculty members from universities across Iran and had specialized discussion sessions.

Amirkabir University of Technology hosted international lecturers and researchers from Germany, Italy, Poland, Syria, France, Lebanon, Japan, Afghanistan, Turkey, the United States, Canada, Sweden, and Algeria in this specialized gathering. AUF Agence ( and the National Foundation of Elites of Iran ( were the two main supporters of this program.

On Saturday, the opening address of this meeting was delivered by Dr. Golroo, Director of International Cooperation in Amirkabir University of Technology, then a speech was given by Dr. Motamedi, the chancellor of Amirkabir University of Technology, followed by Dr. Abbas Soroush, the Deputy Minister of Energy and Labor Ministry, and finally Dr. Sarah Behnam, a researcher at CNR Italy and an H2020 Project Fellow.

Then specialized meetings of the working groups mentioned were held in the five relevant colleges of Biomedical Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Mining and Metallurgical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, and Computer and Information Technology Engineering. In these meetings after researchers introduced themselves and their work, they defined joint international proposals and projects.

It is worth mentioning that four members of the EURAS Academy; Aydin University, Kardan University, Università degli studi di trieste and Sabanci University attended this program. Professor Sirin Tekinay, the Vice Rector for Research and Development, was a guest of AUT representing Sabanci University.

A noteworthy point was the presence of Iranian intellectuals and faculty members residing outside of Iran, that created a platform to define and approve initial educational and research projects in the five areas mentioned.

On Sunday, guests visited research centers and laboratories of AUT departments as well as the  Innovation and Technology Tower of Ibn Sina.

The outcomes of this event would be joint research-industrial projects, establishment of joint research center, joint supervision of students, a follow-up match-making workshop in partner countries, sabbatical leave and dual degree programs for PhD students, and finally making a consortium of universities / institutes to apply for EU projects.
